Who We Served: Youth, ages 14-21:

  • 87% live below the Federal poverty standard of $10,830/year
  • 60% have a history of substance abuse
  • 51% have prior involvement with the justice system
  • 49% have dropped out of high school
  • 42% have been homeless or lived in a shelter or transitional home
  • 33% have been in foster care

What Impact We Made:

  • 129 youth served in 2009
  • 77 earned wages as interns in our job training programs
  • 93% went on to new jobs or to higher education after job internships
  • 69% made educational gains while in program
  • 100% of youth with prior criminal backgrounds have not reoffended
  • 89% of previously homeless youth maintained stable housing
  • 5500 hours of case management were provided for youth interns
  • 48 skill-building workshops were held at New Door
  • 21 local businesses and nonprofits employed youth as Ally partner job sites
  • 350 volunteers engaged in supporting programs
  • 30,093 bicycles or accessories sold or repaired at Pedal Revolution
  • 360,658 shirts, bags and other items printed or embroidered through Ashbury Images

Financial Accountability:

A key measure of the effectiveness of our financial accountability is the percentage of each dollar of revenue that goes directly to programs. In 2009, 88% of New Door's expenses benefited the people we serve. Only 12% of our expenditures were for administrative and fundraising activities.
