ALLY

Training and mentoring internship program for youth who have little work experience and are seeking part-time employment and job training.

Youth (17-21) in the Ally program begin with a 3-week pre-employment training at New Door and then are placed in internships at community partner organizations and businesses for 3 months.

Youth in Ally also participate in weekly meetings at New Door for peer group support, ongoing training, and individualized case management to emphasize long-term goals and development.

Ally Benefits for Partner Organizations/Businesses:
- Opportunities to invest in the lives of low-income youth by supervising an intern in the workplace
- Support of New Door’s youth development staff who have expertise in employment and youth development

Ally Benefits for Interns:
- Paid internships ($9.36/hour) and job training for youth with little or no prior work experience 
- Direct supervision and support from a staff member of the business as well as the support of New Door staff
- Monthly Fastpass provided for transportation to and from work 
- Diverse selection of jobs to choose from throughout San Francisco 
- Future job searching skills, including resume writing, interviewing, time management, budgeting, communication and conflict resolution
- Opportunity to work with and meet other young people
