As a community-based nonprofit that is working to help at-risk youth in San Francisco get ready for work and life, we rely on the generosity of many donors and funders. To accomplish our mission, we leverage more than just their dollars--we leverage their talents and experience.
One recent example of this is the launch of our new Pedal Revolution website and blog (www.pedalrevolution.org). Pedal Revolution is our bicycle sales and service shop where at-risk youth are employed, trained and supported. For the past two years, we’ve dreamed of updating our website with the functionality, design and sustainability required to succeed in today’s competitive climate; we also wanted to build a stronger customer community, strengthen our brand identity, and measure the effectiveness of our marketing programs. But we lacked the people and money to make this happen.
Thankfully, New Door is a grantee of Tipping Point Community, an innovative funder that provides not only financial support, but also practical tools and training to help us tackle problems and opportunities. Tipping Point recently forged a partnership with Accenture to provide technology solutions to its portfolio of nonprofit organizations – at no charge to us. We quickly took advantage of their website development program.
Tipping Point provided us with a project team of two Accenture technical consultants, Lakshmi Srinivasan and Nate Rogers. Because New Door’s staff works regularly with many pro bono consultants, Accenture was able to work quickly and effectively from a remote location. In just five weeks, Pedal Revolution rolled out its new website! We are already enhancing it by adding features like customer mailing list registration and Google analytics to easily measure results.
"The Accenture team is pleased to be able to provide our resources and expertise to the nonprofit agencies in the Bay Area," says Jeffery Riozzi, Senior Manager at Accenture.
“We’ve received very positive feedback from our customers about our new website,” says Pedal Revolution general manager Steve Fiduccia. “Our staff and youth interns are even more fired up!”
