Job-Readiness

New Door offers a variety of educational supports and skill-building programs to help at-risk youth address the unique challenges and issues they face in life.

Educational Support

After each youth has completed an educational plan with their case manager, they receive various forms of educational support such as homework check-ins, or preparing for the GED or high school equivalency exams. New Door purchases study materials and funds testing fees for each youth. Educational support is provided by a contract instructor, New Door staff and volunteer tutors.

Life Skills Development

New Door conducts over 100 work- and life-readiness workshops annually at its Youth Space. Topics include workplace communications, interviewing and job-search skills, financial literacy, budgeting, nutrition and tax preparation. These workshops engage multiple learning styles and facilitate peer learning and peer support
